Hope you all had a good Christmas. I like it for so many reasons, first is of course, the holidays! Everybody seems to be in festive mood, streets are decorated, good food and to top it all, we’re blessed with good snow this year. I’ve been looking forward to this break from regular stuff and am trying to catch up on so many other things.
It is also time to reflect back on this year, there are number of positives, starting with some great projects at work, collecting some of my favorite gadgets and then losing everything last week – I’ll come to that in a minute.
Joining CEU Business School was another important decision this year and I’m happy it happened at this stage. Read one of my previous blog and you’ll know how long it took me to finally commit to this. On the networking front, this was surely one of the best years for me. I made so many new connections, met some wonderful people and forged deep bonds with many others.
I’ve slowly started to work on my first startup with partners I met at the Business School. Going into 2015, this will be one of the main focus for me. It is so exciting to build something from scratch and then see people using and benefiting from it.
The only year I traveled more than this was year 2000 when I was working as an Application Engineer and had to travel to different customer sites all over India. I traveled 20 times to Budapest, definitely the maximum number of times I traveled to any city.
My last trip to Budapest however, was one to forget. My bag was stolen in the train and in addition to material loss, dampened my festive mood a little bit. Instead of sitting at home, drinking Glühwein, I was running from police station to different authorities. So if you’re traveling by train between Munich and Budapest, be very very careful with your belongings. In fact this is true everywhere, but after this incident, I came across many other similar stories of theft on this route.
As with other setbacks in life, I’ll just have to learn from it, rebuild everything and move on.
Wish you all a very happy new year! Stay safe.
